We make it. That's the whole difference.
Walk through almost any ethnic-wear brand's supply chain and you find the same thing: garments bought finished from a wholesale market in Jaipur or Surat, re-tagged, marked up three or four times, and sold to you as a brand.
The Baisa starts at the other end. We run our own manufacturing unit in Sanganer, Jaipur — the cluster that has been block-printing and dyeing cotton for roughly three hundred years, and where a good part of India's hand-printed fabric still comes from.
Fabric is sourced, cut, stitched, embroidered, finished and quality-checked under one roof, by a team we know by name.
What that means for what you pay
A kurti with this fabric and this finish sits at Rs. 2,200–2,600 in a mall. Here it is Rs. 999. Nothing has been taken out of the garment. What has been taken out is the distributor, the wholesaler, the retailer's rent, and the brand's marketing markup.
What that means for what you get
Because we control the line, we can make things in small runs — twenty pieces of a print rather than two thousand. It means we can try a colour we like without committing a season to it. It also means that when something sells out, it does not always come back in the same design.
It also means that when a garment has a problem, we know which step it came from, and we fix it — rather than raising a complaint with a supplier three cities away.
What we make
Kurtis, kurta sets, and co-ord and tunic sets for women. Cotton for everyday, georgette for work, silk blends and hand embroidery for festive. Sizes S to XXL, with a size chart measured from our own garments rather than copied from a standard table.
